Tennis elbow is the degeneration of the tendon in the elbow due to repeated backhand strokes in tennis. If you play tennis or other sports that apply stress to ligaments and tendons, perform tendon-strengthening exercises, wear a brace on your elbow or affected body part, and apply ice packs and take oral pain relievers if pain persists. If these treatments do not help, you may have to take a break from the sport until the tendon heals.
What is CBL?
Case-based learning (CBL) is a type of activity that engages students in specific, real-world situations. Students focus on building knowledge and using critical thinking and collaborative teamwork to solve problems or answer questions that may or may not have a single right answer.
Case studies are often used in a variety of disciplines and have long been used in medical and law schools. They are a chance for the student to apply what he/she has learned from a textbook or in a laboratory to real-world situations.
• What would you do if you found out one of your friend had leukemia? What would you need to know to help her out?
• Do flu shots really work? What does the research say?
• Why do some people suffer from anorexia and what can they do to get better?
• How do tanning beds contribute to skin cancer?
Look at the choices for case-based learning modules in the upper menu display. Click on the titles to read an overview of the case study, the scenario, some guiding questions, and the scenario task. Your teacher may have other instructions for your team. While the basic criteria may be defined, case-based learning allows you to take the tasks in a variety of directions—you can take it as far as you want to go!
Each CBL module comes with support information to help you get started and a list of internet resources to point you in the right direction. Just find the resources in the left-side menus for each module and get started!
